Promotion of International Activities

1. Expansion of International Business Relations

(1) Dispatching and receiving overseas missions
To promote economic exchange and friendship with the rest of the world, NCCI organizes numerous economic missions overseas every year and exchanges business information with the leaders of both public and private sectors in endeavors to expand global business networks.
NCCI also receives economic missions and visitors from abroad, arranging meetings with NCCI executives as well as sponsoring various trade and investment seminars.

(2) Support to international trade
NCCI daily issues trade-related certificates including certificates of origin and signature certificates.

(3) Nagoya Business Seminar
NCCI has been eager to give presentations to overseas business people who wish to set up a business base in Nagoya or to find the most desirable business location in Japan. Since 1997, NCCI has organized "Nagoya Business Seminar" every year, providing overseas business investors with such relevant and sometimes vital information as general background of Nagoya, investment guides, tax and employment laws, etc.

(4) International Business Access Center (I-BAC)
I-BAC provides One-Stop Service to those foreign companies who are considering investment in Aichi prefecture.

2. Promotion of International Understanding

(1) Inviting foreign diplomatic offices
To promote worldwide recognition of Nagoya, NCCI has invited foreign governments to establish their diplomatic offices in Nagoya. Six consulates- general /consulates as well as many trade representative offices play an active role in deepening mutual understanding between Nagoya and their home countries. NCCI, in cooperation with Aichi”Ēs local governments, set up "The Council to Assist Foreign Government Offices" in 1993 in order to support the activities of foreign government offices in Nagoya by facilitating their contacts with local businesses and providing friendly assistance and information for successful operation of their office in Nagoya.



Promotion of Domestic Activities

1. Policy Proposal

To contribute to the resurgence of the national and local economy. NCCI has conducted a wide range of surveys. Based on these surveys, NCCI makes policy proposals to the national, prefectural and municipal governments including suggestions on economic policies, taxation, budgets and deregulation.


2. Support to Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

(1) Management consultation service and guidance
NCCI operates 5 branches in the City of Nagoya to support small enterprises with 20 or fewer employees on a local basis. At these branches, over 50 business advisers offer a broad array of consultation and guidance services related to tax, finance, accounting, labor management, etc.

(2)Unsecured Loans to small sized enterprises
NCCI provides management guidance with small sized enterprises free of charge in support of their business ventures. Based on thorough guidance by NCCI business advisers in the SME Promotion Division and the official recommendation by the chairman of the chamber, the national government financial institution offers unsecured loans (up to 10 million yen / US$ 87 thousand) at low interest rate without a guarantor to small companies. This unprecedented government loan started from 1973 requires no financial security.


3. Supporting Service for New Enterprises

NCCI offers useful advice and information to entrepreneurs who plan to establish a new business venture or expand their present business into a new dimension.


4. M&A Mediator Services for Small and Medium-sized Enterprises

NCCI established the supporting system of M&A activities in 2000. All related information will be kept under strict confidentiality,and support acquisition among small and medium- sized enterprises.


5. Supporting Service for Information Technology

NCCI has recently focused on providing comprehensive service for fostering information technology of small and middle-sized enterprises.


6. Promotion of Industry

NCCI works hard to support leading edge technologies, which makes the foundation of the industrial development in Nagoya. This endeavor includes strengthening of a cooperative structure between industry, academia and government, and the promotion of the existing industries of the region”Ēs assets such as automobile, industrial machinery, robots, aerospace and ceramics, which contributes to expanding the global presence of Nagoya.


7. Regional Development

To contribute to the development of the regional economy, NCCI has supported construction and maintenance of infrastructure such as airports, seaports, highways, railways as well as striven to create a well-designed, attractive city. Currently, NCCI is playing an important role in the construction of the Second Tomei and Meishin Expressways. NCCI is a strong advocate for the project of the Relocation of Capital Functions from Tokyo to Greater Nagoya, and is promoting the long dreamed the Linear Chuo Shinkansen, an innovative transit system involving superconductive magnetic levitation type linear motor cars.


8. Membership Service

Membership is open to all business areas with annual dues. Membership benefits include opportunities of marketing and networking with existing members, community involvement, and participation in seminars and workshops. Foreign enterprises and individuals are also welcome as NCCI members.
